Save Of The Season? Liverpool Fans Stunned By Alisson Heroics In Merseyside Derby

The 100th league meeting between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield produced it’s first highlight just after 20 minutes when Reds summer signing, goalkeeper Alisson, made a most miraculous save to prevent the visitors going ahead.

After Theo Walcott had punted the ball back into the box from his bonce, it looked harder for teammate Andre Gomes to miss as he aimed his own header towards the back of the Liverpool net.

Alisson, however, had other plans, and his quick-as-a-flash starfish stance prevented the ball from entering the net.

This was subsequently followed by a frantic goalline scramble, with footage showing Joe Gomez sliding the ball away on the chalk with a pitch-perfect interception.

Cynics may well say that Andre Gomes should have buried his header, but Alisson’s save shouldn’t lose any of its gloss and the fact that it might be one of the best - if not the best- save we’ve seen in the Premier League this season.

Many scoffed at the ginormous £56million fee Liverpool paid Roma to bring the Brazilian to Anfield in the summer but on today’s performance and the wonder save, Liverpool fans were overawed by, not to mention enamoured with, their shot-stopper once again.
