Sevilla ''In Talks'' With Alvaro Morata As Chelsea Striker Nears Exit

Reports from Spain today suggest representatives of Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata have met with Sevilla over a possible move.

The misfiring Chelsea striker is in demand, having been linked with a clutch of clubs including Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. But it is believed the player would prefer a move to La Liga and a tweet from a Spanish journalist says talks are ongoing.

A report last month suggested that Morata had "offered himself to Barcelona" having become frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities under Maurizio Sarri. The player is unhappy at Stamford Bridge and wants to move in this transfer window.

Morata was wanted by Juventus and a number of Serie A teams had been looking at him but talk died down after he impressed in the early weeks of the season. He was a key player for Sarri's predecessor Antonio Conte last season but his £60million price tag often weighed heavy round his neck. He has never looked truly happy at Stamford Bridge though last season he scored 16 goals in 49 appearances, including a hat-trick in a 4-0 win at Stoke.

Although he scored twice in Chelsea's FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Morata is a player giving off some negative messages and he looks to be nearing the end of his stay in London.

Chelsea have been linked with several players as a potential replacement for Morata including Gonzalo Higuain - possibly on a loan swap deal with Inter - but now Sevilla have assumed pole position.
