Error-strewn Everton suffered their first defeat under Marco Silva on Sunday after the Toffees slumped to a shocking 3-1 loss at home to a previously pointless West Ham.
The rotten result means that Everton have now only recorded one win from their opening five Premier League matches under their new boss, who cut a frustrated figure on the Goodison Park touchline.
The Portuguese coach has only registered two top-flight wins in his last 16 matches in charge of Everton and Watford, and worst still he's failed to oversee a single clean sheet in that period - an alarming statistic which stretches all the way back to November 2017 when he was in charge of the Hornets.
During this sorry streak Silva's sides have leaked in two or more goals in a whopping 11 league games, three or more goals in four of those matches, and four goals on two occasions. It makes for dire reading for the head coach whose defensive frailties have been laid bare for all to see, and with a visit to a rejuvenated Arsenal up next for Everton, Silva's search for a clean sheet is likely to go on.
Silva can currently be found at 25/1 to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job this season. But while he deserves time to implement his ideas, a sorry return from Everton’s next cluster of fixtures - and a failure to sort of his wobbly defence - could force the Toffees to wield the axe yet again, which would open up the club’s search for a fifth manager (including David Unsworth) in the last year...
