One of the highlights of a World Cup year is when the Panini World Cup stickers go on sale.
Collectors young and old will be queuing to pick up their album and a few packs of stickers when they hit the UK shops on Thursday, March 22.
But the cost of completing the album this year has never been higher. That's because a pack of five stickers is going to set you back 80p. When you factor in that this year's album features wait for it, 682 stickers, well, you can do the maths. Fifty of these will be foil or 'shinies' as you might know them.
Even if you hit a perfect streak of finding every sticker without a swap, which as all collectors know is impossible, you'd have spent around £120. But you might get lucky and be able to swap a fair few along the way.
Collectors have been tweeting Panini urging them to reduce the packet price, saying they won't be bothering this time and that the cost is unfair on children and parents who had been looking forward to filling their albums.
However, some have tweeted that the cost would not be putting them off collecting the stickers because they'd hate to have a hole in their collection. Amazon are offering a sealed box of 100 packs of five stickers like you'll find in the newsagents for £80.
This will be the 13th Panini World Cup sticker album with the first being the 1970 tournament in Mexico. They've got just as much appeal to adults as children - maybe more so.
