The Price Is Rice: Where Will Declan End Up This Summer?

Declan Rice looks to have played his last match for West Ham United. The West Ham star captained his side to Europa Conference League glory on Wednesday evening as they defeated Fiorentina 2-1 in Prague.

On Thursday morning, Hammers owner David Sullivan confirmed to talkSPORT that the England international will be off this summer and expects bids imminently.

With Rice sought after by many suitors, here are the favourites for his signature.

Arsenal - 1/2

After pushing Manchester City closer than anyone else for the Premier League title, Arsenal will be looking to strengthen to keep up with Pep Guardiola’s side. It has been reported that Mikel Arteta and Rice hold each other in high regard which could pave the way for the midfielder to move from east to north London. The Gunners are set to lose Granit Xhaka in the coming weeks and Rice would come in as a direct replacement for the Swiss star.

Bayern Munich - 7/2

Thomas Tuchel had plenty of close looks at Rice when he was in charge of Chelsea and for a while it seemed that Stamford Bridge would end up being the West Ham skipper’s next club. Rice is believed to be a fan of Tuchel and that could be a pulling factor to move to the Bundesliga champions.

Manchester United - 5/1

Erik ten Hag has enjoyed a successful first year in charge of Old Trafford, delivering Champions League football and a Carabao Cup. United will need strengthening if they are to close the gap on their rivals. Midfield is where United are short in terms of depth and quality which the 24-year-old would certainly bring.

Betfred's Declan Rice markets*

Manchester City - 8/1

Rice possesses the attributes of a player who could thrive in Pep Guardiola’s side but after bringing England teammate Kalvin Phillips to the Etihad Stadium last summer, a move for Rice seems unlikely.

Chelsea - 20/1

As a player released by Chelsea’s academy as a youngster, Rice may have some unfinished business in London. It is well known that his best friend is Mason Mount but the Chelsea star looks set to depart for Manchester United this transfer window, which could have been Rice’s biggest pull to Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle United - 28/1

Newcastle United would certainly have the financial means to lure Rice to the north east this summer. With Champions League football secured, the Magpies will have a lot of pulling power and Rice would significantly bolster their midfield.

Liverpool - 33/1

Rice has the profile that Jurgen Klopp would love to have in his midfield but the Reds need to spread their funds across several acquisitions ahead of next season rather than bringing in one expensive individual, which is what Rice would be.

Real Madrid - 50/1

A move to Real Madrid seems unlikely. They are on the verge of confirming Three Lions teammate Jude Bellingham as their latest marquee signing, adding to an already talent-filled midfield.

Tottenham Hotspur - 66/1

With Ange Postecoglou now in charge at Spurs, we can expect to see Tottenham very busy in the coming months. A signing like Rice would do wonders for the team and the atmosphere around the club. However, he is leaving West Ham to win more trophies and right now Spurs isn’t the place for that.
