Thibaut Courtois has only been at Real Madrid for a matter of months but already he could be set to witness a change in the dugout.
The Los Blancos incumbent, Julen Lopetegui, reportedly came close to the sack this week but managed to cling onto his job. However, a defeat to fierce rivals Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season would no doubt spell the end for the Spaniard after a meagre 14 matches at the helm.
The likes of former boss Jose Mourinho and ex Chelsea manager Antonio Conte have been hotly linked with the post, news which has not gone down well with Courtois, who worked under both gaffers during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Spanish newspaper El Pais reports that upon hearing the rumours the “pale” Belgian shot-stopper said:
"I can not believe it!
“Here I am the only one who has worked with Conte and with Mourinho. I left London to not have to go through something like that again and now it turns out that Conte comes, and if not, Mourinho."
Meanwhile, Courtois reportedly went on to say that his international manager, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, is the “best tactician in the world” and would be “perfect” for the Real Madrid job.
The out-of-work Conte remains the odds-on favourite to replace Lopetegui at the Bernabeu, followed by the club's B team boss Santiago Solari, and Arsene Wenger, whereas Martinez is currently a 25/1 outsider in what would go down as a shock appointment.
