Harry Kane found the back of the net for the first time in three Premier League matches as Tottenham Hotspur held on to record a nervy 3-2 win at Wolves, despite an impressive late surge from the hosts who at one point were three goals down with 22 minutes left on the clock.
But, a win is a win, and the prized three points meant that Spurs leapt above their fierce North London rivals Arsenal up into 4th place, and to within three points of leaders Liverpool, who drew with Unai Emery's men earlier in the evening.
However, the fact that Spurs overtook the Gunners wasn’t the only reason that supporters were smiling, as their goal machine Kane has now accumulated more Premier League than Arsenal legend Ian Wright.
Kane’s 61st minute goal against Wolves at Molineux propelled his ever-increasing tally to a whopping 114, one more than former Gunner Wright.
As a result, the England skipper moved up to 18th in the all-time rankings and is now within six goals of drawing level with his next target, Steven Gerrard, who bagged 120 goals for Liverpool.
Should Kane score another 14 goals before the season comes to a close, he’ll shoot all the way up to 13th in the table, ahead of likes of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Robbie Keane, Nicolas Anelka, and Dwight Yorke.
However, he still has some way to go if he’s to ever topple Alan Shearer who scored a sensational 260 Premier League goals during his career.
