The Sportman’s Best Friend is back for another episode and this time we travelled to meet one of the top goalscorers in English football this season, Tranmere striker James Norwood.

This is our new series where we visit sportsmen and women and their pooches as part of our brand new series: ‘The SportsMan’s Best Friend’.

James introduced us to his clan of five dogs, Kobe, Lennox, Terry, Tyson and Walter. We talked through his love of dogs, the ones who greet him every day when he gets home from training. His ‘best mate’ Walter, had some adventurous tales of his own, which involved him almost escaping in dramatic circumstances on more than one occasion.

He then headed out for a walk with the dogs and talked about his fantastic season. Tranmere manager Micky Mellon has inspired Rovers in recent seasons, leading them to two three consecutive play-offs. The first one ended in defeat at Wembley but Norwood made up for it 12 months later by scoring the goals that to Tranmere back into the Football League.

The feel-good factor did not end there. This season, his side have made the play-offs yet again and must get past Forest Green Rovers in the semi-final before they can think of Wembley once more. They should be able to rely on their main man, who has hit 29 league goals this season, winning the League Two Golden Boot.

He spoke about his hopes for the play-offs and indeed his immediate future before taking on the assault course in what turned out to be a competitive duel between himself and his girlfriend!

Watch the second episode down below and keep your eyes peeled for the next episode with an Olympian - coming your way soon.
