Manchester City have completed the signing of defender Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund.
The centre-back has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium and adds some more quality in depth to Pep Guardiola’s defensive ranks ahead of a congested fixture list due to this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.
Akanji made 158 appearances for the Black and Yellows over a four-year period, having joined the club in January 2018. He is also a regular first team international for Switzerland and so far has 41 caps to his name. He was part of the squad that reached the Euro 2020 quarter-finals with a stunning penalty shoot-out victory over reigning world champions France in the round of 16.

Speaking to the club website about his move, Akanji said: "I am delighted to be here and can't wait to get started. City have been one of the best teams in Europe over the last few seasons.
"They are brilliant to watch, play an exciting brand of football and compete for trophies year in, year out, so coming here feels like the perfect next step in my career.
"Pep Guardiola is an exceptional manager and this is an exceptional squad of players, so this is an exciting opportunity for me.
"I am really looking forward to testing myself in the Premier League and I will do everything I can to help this club be successful."
He links up with former Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland, who has already gotten off to a great start at City with nine goals in five Premier League matches.
