The Sportsman is proud to bring you the third and final game of the Betfred Wheelchair Super League’s central inclusion round at Birmingham University, between reigning champions Halifax Panthers and Wigan Warriors.
This game is a replay of a fixture from the first round, where Wigan got their 2023 season off to a flying start at the expense of the 2022 Grand Final winners Halifax. It was a shock result for Wigan, who boast two World Cup winners in Adam Rigby and Declan Roberts. They dominated the match, specifically in a second-half showing that saw the Warriors score five tries.
Halifax themselves have plenty of World Cup stars to count on this season as they look to defend their crown. England trio Seb Bechara, Rob Hawkins and Wayne Boardman join Jeremy Bourson, who caught the eye of many in France’s World Cup campaign and managed to grab a first-half hat-trick at Robin Park.
Wigan have played since, losing out to Leeds in Birchwood, but this is Halifax’s second game of the season and they can overtake Wigan with a win by 16+ points. Given the number of points we see in this great sport, you can bet they’ll be going for it!
As this is our last game of the day, the stream will be ending shortly after the game finishes at around 5:45pm, but make sure to subscribe to The Sportsman Rugby League YouTube channel as we’ll be bringing you plenty more live rugby league before the end of the year, starting with the Betfred Women’s Super League clash between York Valkyrie and St Helens which kicks off tomorrow at 1pm.
