Wednesday Champions League Betting Preview: Top Tips Including Rangers, Liverpool & Spurs

Where is the value in Europe this midweek?
11:00, 12 Oct 2022

After Tuesday night’s games, the Champions League is back for another sensational night of action. We’ve got an all British tie to look forward to as Rangers take on an out of form Liverpool side, while Tottenham Hotspur host Eintracht Frankfurt as they look to assert themselves in Group D. Below we’ve picked out some top tips as we head into some midweek European action.

Rangers vs Liverpool

Rangers were second best at Anfield last week and only a wonderful Allan McGregor display kept the score down to 2-0. But despite their difficulties so far this season in Europe, we saw last term how important that Ibrox atmosphere can be. It helped carry them all the way to the Europa League final and they need a special night to keep their hopes alive in the Champions League this year.

With Liverpool suffering their worst Premier League start in a decade, this match provides a perfect opportunity for Rangers to fight back. Remarkably, they are 15/2 to get the win on the night, and there is little value in backing the Reds at 4/11.

Given Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip are out injured, it feels like Liverpool could buckle under the pressure. Rangers or draw is priced at 2/1 with Betfred which feels slightly safer than simply picking the home side to win, even if the longer odds are tempting. We also like the look of TalkSPORT’s pick your punt, which has Darwin Nunez and Antonio Colak to score and John Lundstram to be booked at 20/1.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Spurs have picked up four points from their opening three matches after battling to a 0-0 draw in Germany last week. Now they need to make home advantage count in order to put some distance between themselves and Frankfurt. Antonio Conte’s men secured an important win at Brighton at the weekend and we’re backing them to do the same here.

Spurs are 1/2 to win the match with Betfred and although that is good to include in an accumulator, we could look elsewhere for something a little spicier. Eric Dier has been a constant attacking threat from set pieces, and is 2/1 to get one shot on target. If you want to back him to find the net you can get 17/2 with Betfred.

We also like the look of Tottenham to win to nil, which enhances the odds further to 13/8.

Barcelona vs Inter Milan

Two European giants meet at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night to bring back memories of that famous Jose Mourinho semi-final in 2010. Barcelona currently sit top of La Liga and are unbeaten, but they’ve scraped two 1-0 wins in their last two matches to worry fans.

Xavi has done a fantastic job so far but Inter won the reverse fixture 1-0, so it is a tough one to call. However, backing BTTS no at EVS seems smart given what we have seen in this competition from both teams. Meanwhile Barcelona to win and under 2.5 goals is now 3/1 with Betfred which seems the pick of the bunch when looking at the odds.

The Sportsman tips:

Rangers double chance - 2/1

Nunez and Colak to score and Lundstram to be booked - 20/1

Tottenham to win to nil - 13/8

Eric Dier shot on target - 2/1

Barcelona vs Inter Milan BTTS No - EVS

Barcelona to win and under 2.5 goals - 3/1
