West Ham Risk Losing Star Player To Chelsea, Manchester United Or Spurs Thanks To Crazy Contract Decision

West Ham United have made the bizarre decision to hold off contract talks with Declan Rice until the summer according to reports today.

The Daily Star are reporting that the Hammers are happy to wait until the summer of 2019 to tie down one of their young superstars to a new deal, even though he will only have 12 months left on his current contract by that stage.

The news is sure to alarm the faithful at the London Stadium with Rice nothing short of sensational so far this term in a struggling team and there are sure to be vultures circling.

The same article reports that Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United are all thought to be interested in the 19-year-old and all three clubs will surely have taken note of this latest development in his contract situation.

Rice has already been the headlines recently as he considers whether or not to switch from playing for Ireland to England at International level. The classy player has already played for the Irish during friendlies but the FA are clearly eager to get hold of him which highlights just how highly Rice is regarded at the very top of the game.

A Chelsea youth product, Rice has looked a natural in the centre of the park this season under Manuel Pellegrini and West Ham fans will be hoping he is the man to lead them forward over the next five or ten years but there has to be some worry on the stands as this contract situation drags on.

West Ham have made some terrible mistakes in the transfer market recently but surely keeping Rice is a no brainer, surely?
