Where Do Gareth Southgate's England World Cup Squad Hail From?

Gareth Southgate has named a young and relatively inexperienced 23 man squad for the World Cup in Russia 2018, but we took a closer look at where the 23 players were born and what parts of the country were providing England's finest.

Yorkshire famously smashed the London Olympics of 2012 winning seven gold medals, two silver and three bronzes which would have placed them as twelfth in the medal table if they were their own country.

And Yorkshire is once again supplying the ammo for a good portion of this England squad, with six of the 23 hailing from the White Rose county.

Sheffield can boast three players in the squad with Leicester duo Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy joined by Kyle Walker. Walker and Maguire both starting off their careers at Sheffield United. Spurs full-back Danny Rose was born in nearby Doncaster whilst Fabian Delph was born a few miles west in Bradford. Add in John Stones who hails from Barnsley and that's a little over 25% of the whole squad.

With Gary Cahill born in Derbyshire and the Sunderland born duo of Jordan Pickford and Jordan Henderson (Jordan was a popular name in Sunderland) the north east of the country has a strong representation.

As you'd expect, the north west also has it's fair share of players, Danny Welbeck and Marcus Rashford born in Manchester with Kieran Trippier just up the road in Bury.

Phil Jones was born in Preston whilst Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold is a local lad.

The west country is represented by Jack Butland (Bristol) and Cheltenham's Eric Dier, whilst the likes of Dele Alli (Milton Keynes), Nick Pope (Cambridgeshire) and Ashley Young from Stevenage three of just seven players born south the Watford Gap!

Harry Kane and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are the only Londoners in the squad, although Raheem Sterling, born in Jamaica grew up in the capital.
