We've given our betting tips for Wimbledon 2023

The third Grand Slam event of the year gets underway today as the green grass of Wimbledon welcomes the finest tennis players on the planet. All eyes will be on Novak Djokovic as he attempts to win his fifth consecutive title and in doing so, equal Roger Federer’s all time record of eight success at SW19.

But what do the bookmakers make of this year’s event, and who should you be backing? We’ve taken a look at the latest markets with Betfred to pick out the best tips for both the men’s and women’s sides of the draw.

Men’s outright winner

Novak Djokovic is the heavy 8/15 favourite to win Wimbledon this year, which seems obvious given he has been so dominant on this surface over the last half decade. The Serbian is also coming into this one having won both the Australian Open and the French Open and is on course for the calendar slam.

It looks like a two-horse race in the men’s draw, with Carlos Alcaraz the only other serious contender at 7/2. Everyone else is 18/1 or higher, which means if you fancy Djokovic not to win this year, there is some great value on offer. We wouldn’t back against him though.

Tip: Novak Djokovic to win Wimbledon at 8/13

Women’s outright winner

There’s far more intrigue around the women’s draw this year. Iga Swiatek is the 3/1 favourite having won the French Open for the third time in four years, while she also won the US Open last year and is in flying form. However, grass has never been her strong point. The furthest she’s got at Wimbledon has been round four, and I’d be unwilling to back her at that price point.

Wimbledon odds with Betfred*

Elena Rybakina, last year’s winner, is the third seed and comes in at second favourite at 5/1. She was phenomenal last term but it feels like an big ask for her to go back-to-back. There’s plenty of other contenders including Ons Jabbeur, Coco Gauff and Petra Kvitova, but my pick is Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarussian has been allowed to compete this time around having been banned in 2022, but in her three major appearances since she has reached the semi-finals twice, and won the Australian Open.

Having reached the final four at her last appearance in SW19, this feels like a sensible pick. At odds of 11/2 with Betfred, she feels like the most likely to get the job done at Wimbledon.

Tip: Aryna Sabalenka to win Wimbledon at 11/2

Pre-tournament pick your punts

Betfred also have a whole host of pre-tournament pick your punts on offer, ranging from Djokovic not to win the men’s singles at 6/5, to any British woman to make the final at 150/1. However, our pick from this bunch is a bit more modest, and a little negative on the home favourites.

No British player to make the last 16 is being offered at 8/11, and from what we have seen, no home favourites will go close this year. Unless Andy Murray can do something spectacular, this one should be a fairly sure thing.

Tip: No British player to make the last 16 in the men’s or women’s competitions - 8/11

Double: Sabalenka and Djokovic both to win Wimbledon - £10 pays £99.66
