Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to make waves in the top half of the Premier League this season and despite spending big in the summer they are looking to strengthen further in January.
The club spent £80m in summer on big names such as Rui Patricio, Adama Traore and Diogo Jota, who have played big parts in their current Premier League campaign. The Molineux club have taken to Premier League life comfortably and now sit tenth in the league after ten Premier League games.
Impressive draws against Manchester City and Manchester United grabbed the headlines but Wolves have also broken a Premier League record in that time. So far in the Premier League, Wolves have named exactly the same starting XI in every game, a new record for any club in the top division.
However, the club are now eying up potential candidates who could challenge their settled starting eleven and have turned their attention to Serie A in an attempt to sign two players. Napoli duo Marco Rui and Amadou Diawara are the two players who the club have enquired about and could join in January, but they will cost a fair fee.
Rui is an accomplished left-back and Portuguese international whilst Diawara is just 21-years old and plays as a holding, destructive midfielder. At 27-years-old Rui would bring competition for Jonny at left-back whilst Diawara would bring some youthful competition for Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho in the middle of the park.
Things are certainly looking up for Wolves and these two transfers would elevate them further. They could be challenging England’s top six in the near future.
Rui is a Portuguese left back whilst Diawara, who is 21, plays as a defensive midfielder.
