The Sportsman’s Weekly Quiz: From Europa League Mayhem To Nadal's Tilt At History

With the sporting summer on the horizon, there has been plenty going on
13:58, 28 May 2021

We’re well and truly into the business end of the football season, with triumph and heartbreak in the beautiful game dominating the sporting landscape this week. Manchester United's marathon Europa League final penalty defeat to Villarreal on penalties whetted everyone's appetite ahead of the Champions League finale between Manchester City and Chelsea this Saturday, while there are three critical play-off finals to come over the Bank Holiday period too.

The good times keep on rolling in with Euro 2020 just around the corner, but there is plenty of other sporting action for us to sink our teeth into in the meantime.

The French Open gets underway this weekend, with big boxing events to look forward to both domestically and overseas.

In the last week alone, we’ve had sackings, resignations, media boycotts and plenty of squad announcements ahead of the Euros, one of which caused a stir thanks to the absence of any players from one of the world game's biggest clubs.

As followers of The Sportsman will know, we love a trip down memory lane. The last seven days have been fantastic for the nostalgia lovers out there with a look back on Usain Bolt’s records, Manchester United’s 1999 treble and some reminiscing about Paul Gascoigne’s career as he celebrated his 54th birthday.

There has been an awful lot to digest, but just how much have you been paying attention in what has been another corker of a sporting week?

Test yourself with The Sportsman’s 10 questions right here.

It’s Friday quiz time.
