Eddie Hearn has confirmed that a fight between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua is no closer being made.
The Matchroom supremo has told Sky Sports that the Wilder team has failed to respond to six emails he has sent to the WBC Champion with the hope of securing a deal to fight Joshua.
The British fighter and his team have made it clear that they are desperate to fight the Bronze Bomber in a clash for all four title bouts but Hearn is clearly not hopeful of the deal being concluded any time soon.
We are probably up to about six unanswered now, in fact I sent one saying I just want to check these haven;t gone into your spam. It's frustrating...if they wanted the fight, they would talk to me.
At this stage it appears as if Wilder and his team aren't even give a thought to fighting Joshua with a rematch against Tyson Fury more likely according to various reports. The American was lucky to escape his fight with The Gypsy King with a draw last month in LA and a return fight with Fury now looks more likely than a fight with the other world champion.
All three fighters are certainly talking a big game at the moment and fight fans will be hoping that 2019 is the year that we finally get to see for real who is the best heavyweight fighter on the planet.
Wilder has the power to beat any fighter but at this stage he looks likely to avoid the 2012 Olympic Champion, for the time being at least.
