Possibly the proudest family in boxing, and with good cause, the Fury’s roll together – and were in Manchester this week ahead of Hughie Fury’s bid to become a World Champion at the first time of asking.
The most recognisable of the bunch, no stranger to the camera, was Tyson Fury, who was on hand to say a few words.
He gave insight into his thoughts and predictions on McGregor Mayweather, an honest look into the test ahead for his cousin, and a brief slant on his views of himself.
“Don’t take advice from me – advice from me gets you in trouble”, is a line that doesn’t overstate high regard of oneself, maybe more actual awareness. Whether he has regrets since that night in Germany we’ll not know, but the humble nature of Tyson earlier this week suggests he is no longer the happy go lucky clown, more an intelligent head, who just wants to see himself and his family get on with boxing.
There was still the humorous intent within, the Tyson that enjoyed slightly provoking, the one who suggested Conor McGregor would defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr via knockout.
Whereas the aforementioned eventuality could well pan out, it is certainly not something people from the boxing side of the fence should be saying, although Tyson was on hand to give Mayweather his credit, saying Mayweather should win, even though he fancied Conor.
He spoke well, didn’t shirk any questions, that admittedly weren’t tough to answer, and had time for everyone in the room.
Whether we’ll see him fight again remains to be seen, but regardless of the public’s opinion of him, there’s a lot to the man, Tyson Fury.
