Tyson Fury is bidding to make a real statement of intent on Saturday night when he takes on Italian Francesco Pianeta at Windsor Park (Belfast) on the undercard of Carl Frampton’s duel with Luke Jackson.
Fury’s heavyweight rival Deontay Wilder will be ringside for the bout, and should Fury topple Pianeta this weekend he’s widely expected to set up a mouthwatering showcase spectacle with Wilder before the year is out.
During his shopping centre training session, Fury told Sky Sports News - see video below - that he can’t wait to fight in front of his American foe, as he’ll show the WBC heavyweight champion how it’s done.
When asked whether he’d be able to set up a shot against the 32-year-old, Fury replied:
“No, he’ll get the shot with me!”
Meanwhile, in a separate interview Fury had this to say ahead of his fight with Pianeta:
“He’s (Pianeta) a big strong fella and he knows that if he wins he will fight Wilder instead of me. If I can’t beat him I’m not going anywhere.
“He’s a very dangerous opponent but in my mind I think I’m the greatest heavyweight that’s ever been born so I should handle Francesco Pianeta.
“And whoever else, Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, all the bums out there. To me they’re only bums anyway.
“I’m going to go out there and smash him to pieces and make Italian sausage out of him.”
