By victim, we mean opponent, although it’s not always easy to tell the difference in the career of the Bray native.
Katie Taylor retained her WBA and IBF lightweight belts last night after a dominant win on the cards against challenger Eva Wahlstrom.
In her fourth fight of 2018, Taylor put in what might have been a career-best showing, outclassing her Finnish opponent to win a comprehensive decision win, coming out 100-90 on top on all three scorecards.
"I thought it was a great performance, she [Wahlstrom] came here to win so I knew it would be a great fight,” she told Sky Sports after the bout. “Stoppages are hard to get against quality opponents, I'm very happy.”
Wahlstrom can consider herself to have battled with credit, having managed to stay on her feet under some barrages from Taylor that were scarcely believable.
Unification was on the mind of the former Olympic champion Taylor after the bout, and she had some names in mind.
"I want all four of them next year," Taylor said, referring to Rose Volante [the WBO champion], Delfine Persoon [WBC], Amanda Serrano and Cecilia Braekhus.
Hearing the formidable Irish woman wants to get in the ring with you in the new year is enough to put almost anyone off form over the Christmas period.
Let’s hope Taylor can get a unification bout back home in her native land sorted, what a night that would be!
