''The Joshua Fight Is Dead'' - Dillian Whyte Delivers Huge Update On His Next Fight

It's the news that we've been waiting for... sort of. The boxing world has been anticipating news on whether the 'will they, won't they?' fight between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte would go ahead.

The verdict - it won't, for now anyway.

Dillian Whyte has delivered an update on who is next opponent will be as he told Sky Sports that the prospect of a bout with Joshua "is dead" and he will instead be taking on one of Dominic Breazeale, Luis Ortiz or Alexander Povetkin.

Whyte, who boasts a 25-1-0 career record, defeated Dereck Chisora in an epic duel during his most recent outing in December. Anticipation was high that he could next meet Joshua, who remains the only man to beat Whyte after he defeated him in December 2012.

Both men have come a long way since then.

Whyte's announcement all but confirms that Joshua will take on Jarrell Miller in his next fight.

Speaking ringside at the O2 Arena in London, where Fabio Wardley beat Morgan Dessaux with a first round knockout on Saturday night, Whyte told Sky Sports:

The Joshua fight is dead so we move on.

The good thing is that I've got options and we wanted to fight, he wanted to fight as well, but sometimes negotiations break down.

There's lots of ins and outs in negotiations, the fans don't really see the ins and outs of that.

I fight April 20th here [at the O2 Arena] hopefully Dominic Breazeale, or Alexander Povetkin or Luis Ortiz, or one of those kind of guys.

Let's see what Eddie [Hearn] can deliver in the next few days.

When asked who he would most like to fight next, Whyte revealed he would like to go up against Breazeale because "the big guy has only been beaten once".
