Leroy Sane's late goal gave Manchester City a spirited 2-1 win over Liverpool to re-ignite the title race last night, but while the blue side of Manchester rejoiced at cutting the gap to the Merseyside club to four points, the red side of Manchester was also celebrating Liverpool's first defeat of an enthralling Premier League season.

For decades Manchester United and Liverpool have served up one of the biggest rivalries in English football, and the two most successful clubs in our domestic game have battled to become the number one club, and it's a rivalry that often rumbles off the pitch.

Well, heading into last night's encounter, Liverpool had the chance to go nine points clear at the top of the table, but a sparkling performance from City saw the Reds lead slashed to four points and the title race has now been blown open.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool squad are trying to become the first bunch from Anfield to lift the Premier League title, and United fans, in particular, are dreading the thought of their adversary launching themselves to the top of the tree in English football, so unsurprisingly the red side of Manchester revelled in City inflicting defeat on the Merseysiders.

Here are some of the Manchester United fans sticking the boot into Liverpool after last night's defeat:
