Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder at long last confirmed that they will fight each other following the former’s unanimous points victory over Italian Francesco Pianeta at a jam-packed Windsor Park on Saturday night.
After the bout Wilder stepped into the ring, before Fury grabbed the microphone, and told his fellow heavyweight:
"One thing I promise when I go to Las Vegas is I am knocking you out!”
Then in his resulting post-fight press conference Fury, in a magnificent shirt, defended his unspectacular points win over Pianeta, stating that he didn’t need a one round knockout, but valuable time in the ring.
The 30-year-old then backed himself to come up trumps in America once again - five years ago he knocked out Steve Cunningham in New York - quoting Frank Sinatra in the process.
“Frank Sinatra said that ‘if you can make it there (NYC) you can make it anywhere’ so I’m sure Las Vegas will be a doddle for me, don’t worry about that!”
Wilder’s WBC heavyweight belt will be on the line in Vegas against the former unified champion who previously held the WBA, WBO and IBF world titles, with the eagerly anticipated bout expected to take place towards the end of the year - full details will be made public next week.
Both men remain unbeaten in their respective professional boxing careers. Fury has won every one of his 27 fights, 19 of which have been knockouts, while only one of Wilder's 40 bouts has gone the full distance.
Tyson Fury says fighting Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas will be a 'doddle' following his points win over Francesco Pianeta!
