One of the biggest fight of the year will take place tonight as two of the best pound for pound boxers in the world go head-to-head for the second time. Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin with battle it out in the ring with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas with the two fighters looking to settle this score.
The first matchup between the two ended in a draw with many feeling that GGG had edged the bout. It was a controversial decision by the judges who did not agree with each other on how the fight had panned out. One of the judges scored it 113-115 in GGG’s favour, one 114-114 and one judge remarkably gave Canelo a landslide win, scoring it 118-110 in his favour.
This time around neither one of the boxers wants to leave it up to the judges with both fighters aiming for the knockout. Canelo’s failed drug test in the build up to the originally scheduled rematch on May 5th only adding fuel to the fire. Canelo was given a suspension from boxing but this rematch was never going to disappear, only be delayed.
Now he has served his time this rematch has the eyes of the boxing world upon it. The fight is scheduled to get underway at 4am UK time meaning fight fans in England will have to set their alarms for this one.
This will be the flagship fight for BT Sport’s brand new pay-per-view offering, aptly named BT Sport Box Office. To watch the fight, existing BT Sport customers can pay via their remote control whilst Sky customers must register online here.
It will cost fans £16.95 for this fight and the undercard is scheduled to begin at 11.30pm. This fight is well worth staying up for!
