CM Punk Battered And Bruised Following Brutal UFC Defeat To Mike Jackson

The eyes of the fight world were on Chicago on Saturday night for UFC 225 with most of the attention falling on the bout between CM Punk and Mike Jackson.

A superstar in the world of WWE, CM Punk was having his second fight in the cage and it is fair to say that it might well have been his last...

The welterweight bout against Mike Jackson was certainly a spectacle but for all the wrong reasons for Punk as he suffered a beat down of epic proportions in front of the world. His sophomore bout was 19 months after his first but the result was the same with a unanimous points decision win for Jackson, who was able to hit his opponent at will.

Jackson was unable to miss the target with a series of crushing blows landed on Punk, who to his credit didn't quit when plenty of others would have tapped out. UFC President Dana White praised the balls of CM Punk but it is clear how he felt about the former wrestler future in the Octagon

The guy’s 39 years old. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight, and I think he should call it a wrap.”

White also made it clear that Jackson should have finished off Punk when he had the chance with both men coming out of the fight in a slightly more negative light. CM Punk is surely going to consider his career now with a move back to the world of WWE surely a safer way of making a living.
