Fifa World Cup Blog: Two Former World Champions Begin Their Campaigns

Belgium defeat Canada 1-0, after surviving an early penalty scare. It seemed like Canada just couldn't fit the jigsaw together in the final third, leaving them without a goal despite heavily dominating the game. 

Belgium lead Canada at half time, but you wouldn't have known it from the flow of the game...

It's rather against the run of play, but Belgium lead Canada 1-0! Canada were dominating for most of the first half but Belgium hit it long to Michy Batshuayi who smashes it past the keeper. 

After a VAR check, Yannick Carrasco was judged to have handled the ball in his area and a penalty went to Canada. Alphonso Davies stepped up but it was poor, and Thibaut Courtois saved it! No idea why the left-back took it over Jonathan David.
