Liverpool have stormed to the top of the Premier League, for a few hours at least, after a Mo Salah hat-trick inspired the Reds to a 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth on the south coast.
The win, Liverpool’s fifth in a row, propelled Jurgen Klopp’s men one point ahead of Man City, who travel to Chelsea in the Saturday evening kick-off, as they maintained their superb unbeaten start to the 2018/19 top-flight campaign.
The Merseyside outfit are undefeated 16 games this term, but if you include the 4-0 hammering of Brighton on the final day of the previous campaign, the club are now without a loss in 17 Premier League matches, equalling a club record that was set back in 2008.
The three points against Bournemouth, who stay 7th, also means that Liverpool have now made the third-best ever start to a Premier League season (42 points), with only the record-breaking Man City side of 2017/18 (46 points) and Jose Mourinho's Chelsea 2005/06 side (43 points) amassing more points after 16 Premier League matches.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alisson Becker has also broken a record for himself, as he’s yet to taste defeat in the Premier League since his big-money summer arrival from Roma, beating Javier Mascherano’s unbeaten 15 game start to life at Liverpool.
Star of the show on Saturday afternoon, Salah, now has two Liverpool hat-tricks to his name, while he became the first Reds player to score an away hat-trick in the top-flight since Luis Suarez back in March 2014.
