Back in the day, when we were busy being excellent to each other, the Torsion Artillery from adidas Originals was one of the most popular high-tops on the market. This was a time when basketball shoes ruled supreme - thanks in part to their appearance on the heels of a certain Bill & Ted over the course of their Excellent Adventure on the silver screen.
Now, with the release of the third Bill & Ted Film, Face The Music, and to celebrate the impact that these two totally bodacious rockers (played by Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, respectively) have had on the original Torsion Artillery, adidas are remastering the sneaker with brand new colourways that pay tribute to Bill and Ted’s legendary band, the Wyld Stallyns.
Appearing in white and red, the fictional band’s logo can be found on the back heel, looking as if it’s bursting out of the shoe itself. Another pair, which comes in a black and white colourway, features a large adidas Trefoil logo off-centred on the heel, giving it a more traditional look in comparison to the white and red. The shoe is made almost entirely of leather, featuring three large stripes on the mid-panel and a collar with coloured cut-outs on it.
You’ll struggle to find a more retro shoe release this year - they genuinely feel like a film prop that’s been snatched straight from behind-the-scenes of the original 1989 blockbuster. In a time when all the rhetoric is about making things great again, in 2020 it's adidas who are making the high-top great again. Excellent!
The adidas Originals KC Torsion Artillery 'Wyld Stallyns' is set for release on October 9 in both colourways for £145
