British driver Lewis Hamilton is on the verge of scooping his fourth world title after winning the United States Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver has now stretched his lead to 66 points over Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who finished the race in second. To keep the title fight alive for another week, Vettel must make up 17 points in Mexico City next weekend.
Hamilton is in such good form that it is inconceivable that he will finish sixth or lower in Mexico, any result better than sixth will give him the title, even if Vettel wins the race.
Hamilton and Vettel battled it out at the start of the race in Austin, with the German stealing the lead from pole-sitter Hamilton at the start.
The Mercedes driver showed his racing spirit and battled back to retake the lead on the sixth lap. It was plain-sailing from then on in, with little action at the front of the race through to the finish.
With Hamilton finishing first and Valterri Bottas fifth, Mercedes wrapped up their fourth constructor's title clear of Ferrari and Red Bull.
