Rickie Fowler Sinks Massive Eagle Putt At The Wells Fargo Championship

Rickie Fowler may not have won the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship, but he did walk off with an incredible 76-foot eagle three on the par five seventh hole.

If a 76-footer isn't likely enough, it was a perilous putt down the slope which makes it all the more amazing. Fowler, decked out in his traditional Sunday orange saw his ball go into the hole for eagle and the Californian couldn't have looked any less bothered!

Perhaps Fowler, who was 9 shots off the lead at the time was just going through the motions but he gave the galleries around the 7th hole a thrill none the less.

The tournament was won by Jason Day who gave a typically dogged display from the front on Sunday to win two shots from Americans Nick Watney and Aaron Wise. The Australian never really looked like letting his third round lead slip until bogeying the 13th and 14th to leave him in a tie with Wise. However, two birdies in his last five holes were enough to give Day an 11th PGA Tour win and his second this season after landing the Farmers Insurance Open earlier in the year.

Fowler finished his round on two under par, in a tie for 21st place.

The pair now head to The Players Championship next week at TPC Sawgrass, both former winners in what is known as the unofficial fifth major. Day won in 2016, with Fowler taking the honours a year earlier, still his biggest career win to date. Rolling in a few more 76-footers would be a massive help next week!
