Santo da Serra
The oldest golf course in Madeira, the Santo de Serra holds the Madeira Islands Open on the European Tour, in what is always a competitive event.
A par 72 course that stretches 6,825 yards, the Santo de Serra offers a whole host of challenges to the players taking part and the signature holes at four and five are one of the highlights of the Machico Course.
The Madeira may offer one of the lowest prize purses on offer, but even with a lower calibre of player taking part it is still conducive to low scoring, and Roope Kakko notched a 24-under par en route to recording his maiden European Tour win in 2015.
Voted the 12th best course out of the 75 in Portugal, it was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Snr and now provides a tough test for all professionals looking to etch their name in the coveted crown.
