Ian Poulter is one of the most colourful and talented players currently involved in the game. The man from Hertfordshire, in England burst onto the European scene at the turn of the century and has gone onto to become one of the best players in the world. Poulter turned pro back in 1995 and has since won at least one tournament on the PGA Tour, the European tour, the Japan Tour, the Asian Tour and the Tour of Australasia.
Over the last few years we have seen Poulter play his golf almost exclusively in America on the PGA Tour with the aim of improving his Major chances. Poulter has gone close to winning a Major Championship on a number of occasions with a second place at the Open Championship of 2008 highlight to date. In 2012 we saw Poulter finish in the top ten of three of the four Major Championships which would indicate that eh is getting closer to picking up one of the big ones.
Most golf fans will know Ian Poulter for his exploits in the Ryder Cup over the past few years. The Englishman seems to come alive when he slips the European shirt on and he seems to have become the leader of the successful team in recent times. His performance at Medinah in 2012 was simply sensational and most credit Poulter with turning round the fortunes of a struggling European side. If Poulter can replicate that form in a stroke-play format, he will surely be a major threat in the game over the coming years.
