December seems to be the month to release sneakers. With adidas’ basketball stars Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard having already dropped their latest signature shoes of course James Harden, their biggest name, would follow suit. We’ve been teased and titillated over the past few months as sneak pictures and imagery released by adidas themselves have got us seriously interested in this release.

Out on January 4th, the adidas Harden Vol. 5 Futurenatural could be the shoe that starts 2021 with a bang, with several initial colourways out on release day but not only that, a couple of design variations will be released in January too. Chapter 1’s ‘Creator’ will be followed by a stunning floral version dubbed Chapter 2. We think there may be many more Chapters to come…

The debut release is created by Jalal Enayah who has designed Jordan Westbrook products in the past, but for this edition there are elements taken from the Harden Vol. 4. The ¾ height, the shape and textured midsoles remain, but this isn’t just a rehashed shoe. No sireee! The tongues now feature Harden’s signature ‘H’ logo, but it is the colourway we are interested in.

The incredible art colourway features on a white base, with multi-coloured ‘splodges’ of paint all across the shoe. While this sort of design can seem tacky, the pale colouring helps keep this look on the right side of the line, and allows the wearer to look stylish.

The side profiles are made with synthetic fabrications, while the mid-foot overlays where the laces loop through have been altered in shape to look more like an upside-down “M”. These are fantastic touches, but it isn’t all about looks, the comfort and support this shoe will give you must be noted.
We are keeping our eyes peeled for these to drop via adidas.com and select retailers on January 4th, 2021 for around £100.
