The year is 1998 and David Beckham is a global superstar. The Manchester United and England midfielder has the looks, he has the prowess and most importantly of all, he has the boots.
In the summer of ‘98, at the World Cup in France, Becks and his adidas Predators achieved global fame. The mere sight of Predators, those three stripes of white on black and red, remind us of that moment in time and, for an entire generation, they are synonymous with Beckham and the late nineties. Now, more than two decades on, adidas are remaking them for a release this very month.
The limited edition Predator Accelerator firm ground boot will come in Core Black and Grey Six with a slick, clean look this time around and we fully expect they will prove as popular as the Accelerator which came out in 2019 and featured a golden, black and red colourway. The Predator is simply timeless, instantly recognisable and for that reason, a must for footballers of any age, if they want to catch the eye while having a kickabout.
The German sports giants describe the football kicks on their website, saying, "Luxurious leather, pure adidas heritage. Inspired by a '90s Predator icon, these limited-collection football boots keep you comfortably locked in when you hit the pitch.
“Identical to the original Accelerator in every way, the soft K-leather upper has its signature rubber elements on the strike zone. Underneath, a groundbreaking split outsole brings you speeding back to the present."
There's no word of a UK price yet, but the Predator Accelerator remakes are expected to drop on the adidas webstore on January 15.
