The seventies. It was the era of disco, Jaws and John Travolta. Saturday Night Fever had people flocking to dance floors across the world, in fashion an American outerwear company called The North Face was still in its infancy, whilst Italian brand Gucci were celebrating a half century of creating luxury clothing and accessories.
Now, as the latter celebrates its 100th birthday, having been found in Florence in Tuscany back in 1921, the two have joined forces for a new collaboration heavily inspired by the glorious 1970s. Teaming up for the start of 2021, The North Face and Gucci launch a hotly-anticipated collection boasting a host of items for the ultimate expedition. Tents, sleeping bags and footwear perfect for the great outdoors are all included based on ideas of exploration and self-discovery for this premium partnership.

Using a brand new ECONYL fabric crafted from regenerated materials which can be recycled, there are also luggage pieces, ideal for your travelling pursuits when it’s safe again to do so. All eight come with stunning motifs and different patterns. As well, there are bomber jackets - classic - feather padded coats, each based on The North Face designs of the seventies.

The company-branded hiking boot comes in three colourways, brown, cream and black and features rope-like laces and even a Goodyear-welted sole. Then there are patterned sweatshirts, t-shirts and eye-catching jumpsuits elsewhere in this collection. Bright, quirky and cool, this stunning match-up fuses high fashion with practicality perfectly and will have you looking the part in the great outdoors.
Starting at £135, the collection will be sold in the UK exclusively at London Selfridges throughout the month of January.
