There’s the England football fan of a certain generation who still can’t walk into a dentist, take one look at the reclining chair and immediately get misty-eyed over Euro ‘96.
There’s no doubt a few at size? and adidas feel the same way, reminiscing over Paul Gascoigne careening away for his iconic celebration on that sunny June afternoon, his Three Lions’ teammates spraying water into his mouth as he lay on his back on the ground having just scored the best goal Wembley had arguably ever seen.

The next chapter of adidas Originals, the second instalment of their exclusive adidas ‘Euros Pack’ is inspired by that memorable moment. The Gazelle Vintage ‘Dentist Chair’ takes influence from England’s national football kit. This adidas Gazelle features a white leather upper and contrasting blue hues on the famous adidas three stripes, and, best yet, this pair boasts a graphic print of the legendary celebration on the footbed as well as its date - June 15, 1996.

The celebration is a reference to a drink-soaked night which occurred on England's pre-Euro ‘96 tour of east Asia. Members of the team visited a bar in Hong Kong, were tied to a chair and plied with alcohol. It was a story the tabloids couldn’t wait to get their mitts on, with Gazza, obviously, getting the full force of unwanted coverage. Subsequently, after bagging the goal for England against Scotland, teammates Jamie Redknapp, Alan Shearer, Steve McManaman and Teddy Sheringham squirted the teams water bottles onto Gascoigne’s face and the ‘Dentist Chair’ was born.
Lovingly recreated in this exceptional Gazelle sneaker, what more could you ask for? You can even try and replicate Gazza’s stunning goal in them.
