As of this month, approximately 9.6million of us have been at home on furlough due to the Coronavirus pandemic, according to statista.com. Meanwhile, nearly a million people tuned into Joe Wicks’ workout classes everyday at the height of lockdown while some of us took ‘sitting’ it out of work a little too literally.
Thankfully though, things are slowly returning to some sense of normality. We can watch live sport again, albeit on the television, we can socialise in bars and restaurants and for some, it’s back to work. Soon enough, the office will call and the wardrobe will need adding to.
While working life will likely never be the same again - no more five days of commuting perhaps - you’ll still want to look your best on the occasions when you have to go in for that chat with the boss or that really important meeting. So, with the clock ticking before we all go back, make sure you’re prepared with our list of must-haves for the big return.
TheNorthFace backpacks, £25 - £155

So, you’re going to need somewhere cool to store your laptops and packed lunch, so how about these cool rucksacks? The Base Camp Duffel bag is ideal for when you want to get back in the gym in your lunch hour. Featuring a mesh pocket for dirty clothes, there’s also a handy zip for your keys and phone.
As well, there is TheNorthFace Borealis Classic Backpack, plenty of room for your notes ahead of the big presentation and a sturdy extra pocket for all of those electronics you’ll need.
H&M Shacket - £19.99

Working from home and constant zoom calls means we reckon the lines between smart and casual could become more parallel on the return. It’s the same for college.
So why not purchase a smart shacket to elevate your outfit. This is a great overshirt which will layer your look and, featuring airy cotton poplin with a collar, is light enough that it won’t bog you down at your desk or in the quiet study; you’ll stand out from the crowd in the common room too.
The flap chest pockets are great as makeshift storage for pens and phones when you have to dash to that meeting but want to travel light. Wear it over a plain white t-shirt and you’re good to go.
The 24 Trouser - £125

Dubbed a trouser for every hour of the day, these pants can be worn in the office and then when you’re out with your mates when Friday night comes around.
Featuring a stretch waistband with cord fastening and luxurious brass cord ends mean they’re super flexible while the stretch cotton provides a tailored-look.
What’s better is, we know you’ve been forced to spend months on the sofa and a return to the office will be a shock to the system so these pants will ease you in, combing comfort with smart practicality.
GH Bass Loafers - £110

So, as we’ve said, office wear is so last year and it’s all about smart formal now.
We’ve all got used to our sofas in 2020 so comfort is king. And these loafers are ideal for that relaxed but ready for business look.
These are so snug it’ll feel like you’re still wearing your slippers at home, well almost. The hand-stitched and mid-brown leather would go well with the tailored 24 trouser.
Fitbit Versa 2 Health & Fitness Smartwatch - £175

We bet you’re tired of working on the yoga mat in the lounge now and desperate to get back in the gym after that 9 to 5 hustle. So when it’s time to get your skates on, this little gadget will be all you need.
Now you can get out and about again, this Fitbit Versa 2 Health & Fitness Smartwatch has long-lasting four-battery life and is easy to use as you venture back to your workouts and the great outdoors. It also stores 300 songs so no need for your phone to weigh you down, leave it at home and focus.
