The word Porsche instantly conjures up images of style, speed and precision and now they have taken a stab at sneakers, with a little help from Puma along the way. This is a collaboration between two powerhouses of their respective fields who wanted a shoe to commemorate and celebrate one of the most famous sports cars of all time, the 911. We’re massive fans of the 911 and are also partial to a plum sneaker, so when we heard about this we were instantly intrigued.

The two historic brands have combined and Puma have gone big, choosing their era-defining Future Rider and Speedcat as the basis for the two sneaker types. Of course, given Porsche’s motorsport pedigree, they have divided the collection into two categories, Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled. With the 70s inspired Future Rider perfectly encapsulating the historic Air-Cooled Porsche 911s of the past, the Speedcat is all about sharp edges and slick lines, inspired by the Water-Cooled 911s known for their racing pedigree.

The detailing on these inspirations is remarkable. The Puma Future Rider will represent the first four generations of the 911 Turbo: Type 930 3.0 L and 3.3 L, Type 964 and Type 993. Meanwhile, the Speedcat is designed to represent the more modern models, including Types 996, 997, 991 and the excellent 992. These cars have been pioneers on and off the track and Puma have smashed it out of the park with this collaboration.

Released on 17th November and available in a host of different colourways, you are going to have to be quicker than the original 911 if you are to get your hands on a pair of these. The limited edition Porsche x Puma Icons of Fast collection can be purchased from Porsche Design’s website and Puma’s U.S. website and in select Porsche Design and Puma stores. They are priced at £150 per pair.
